How I Actually Use It
LESSON 05 / 29First pass

How I Read the Dark Pool Dashboard

Big money doesn't trade in the open — a lot of it prints off-exchange, in dark pools, where most people never see it. The dashboard pulls it into the light. Here's how I actually read it.

Sort by dark pool activity.

Look for names printing well above their normal off-exchange volume. That's institutions moving size quietly — the trades they'd rather you didn't notice.

Cross-check the news and the score.

A big dark pool print with a positive story behind it means the flow has a reason — not random noise. Heavy flow with nothing behind it? Be careful. Context is everything.

Read direction, not just volume.

Dark pool size alone is just activity. Pair it with the rest of the board — options, score, the chart — to read whether big money is quietly building a position or quietly unloading one.

Use it as confirmation, not a trigger.

Dark pool flow is at its best as one of several aligned sources. When it lines up with the others on the same name, that's when I pay attention. Alone, it's a lead — not a trade.

The dark pool is where the smart money hides. The dashboard surfaces it — your job is to read it in context, not in isolation.
